Short CV - Research interests

Vasilis Bontozoglou was born in Thessaloniki in 1958. He graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1982 and pursued graduate studies in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, where he was awarded the degrees of M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1986 and 1988 respectively. During his graduate studies he worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant. In the academic year 1986-87 we was awarded the Best TA award by the Department of Chemical Engineering.

From the fall of 1988 up to the spring of 1993 he worked as a researcher at the Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute (CPERI) of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology. Since 1993 he has been with the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering of the University of Thessaly, where he has held the positions of assistant professor (1993-1997) and associate professor (1998-2002). He is the Director of the Laboratory of Transport Processes & Process Equipment and has served as Department Head and member of the Senate of the University of Thessaly (1999-2001), and as Associate Leader of the Department's undergraduate and graduate curriculum reform programs.

The research interests of Dr. Bontozoglou include experimental and computational transport phenomena, multiphase flows, theoretical and computational fluid mechanics and analysis & design of process equipment. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Greek Institute of Chemical Engineers, the AIChE, the EuroMech, the Ercoftac and the Greek Association of Computational Mechanics. He has published systematically in referred journals and has served as reviewer for many of them.

V. Bontozoglou has taught the undergraduate courses Transport Phenomena, Transport Processes, Heat Transfer, Thermal Process Equipment, Chemical Thermodynamics, Numerical Analysis and the graduate courses Advanced Transport Phenomena and Hydrodynamic Stability.
