George Kozanidis was born in Athens in 1974. He graduated from the department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering of the University of Thessaly in 1997. He received his MSc degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University, USA, in 1998, his MSc degree in Operations Research and his PhD degree in Industrial Engineering, both from Northeastern University, USA, in 2002. During his graduate studies in USA, he worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant and as an Adjunct Lecturer. In 2002, he received the Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Engineering of Northeastern University.

He has worked at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly, as an Adjunct Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher between April 2004 and April 2007, as a Lecturer between April 2007 and June 2011, and as an Assistant Professor between April 2011 and June 2018. Since June 2018, he has been an Associate Professor of Optimization Methods of Production/Service Systems in the same Department. He teaches the undergraduate courses Linear Programming and Mathematical Programming and the graduate courses Scheduling/Project Management and Decision Making Theory. In the past, he has also taught the undergraduate courses Factory Administration, Statistical Quality Control, Integer Programming & Combinatorial Optimization and Theory of Reliability & Maintenability, and the graduate course Quality, Reliabity & Maintenance Systems.

His research interests lie in the area of Operations Research/Management Science (Mathematical Programming, Design and Analysis of Optimization Algorithms, Stochastic Modeling and Analysis of Manufacturing/Service Systems). He has participated in several funded research scientific projects, both as a principal investigator and as a researcher. He has also served as a referee/reviewer for several international scientific journals and conferences. He is a member of the Hellenic Operations Research Society, INFORMS and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
