Τίτλος: Modelling and Control of Railway Vehicle Suspensions
Περιγραφή: Advances in the automobile technology caused the car to become a popular way of transport for short distances, while rapid progress in the area of aerospace engineering enhanced the use of airplanes for long distance travelling. The consequence of these developments was that trains were gradually losing their value as a form of fast and reliable transport at the time. Building new modern infrastructures or alternatively improving the existing routes was difficult due to the high cost and also there was no guarantee of overall profit. An alternative solution was the introduction of trains capable of operating at high speed on the existing railtracks, ie. high speed trains. High speed trains are dynamically complex systems with their dynamic nature evolved over a period of two centuries of railway development. The conventional ‘passive’ suspension arrangement includes: (i) the primary suspension between the wheelsets and the vehicle bogies, (ii) the secondary suspension between the vehicle bogies and the vehicle body; the former helping with the guidance (running stability) of the vehicle, while the latter is used to provide passenger ride comfort (high frequency isolation). However, improved vehicle speeds and reduction in journey times introduced some drawbacks, the primary problem being that high speed operation affects the performance on both straight and curved track. To accommodate the above, a solution was the use of active suspension arrangements. This talk will present issues in the following areas: normal railway suspension configuration, suspension requirements, how they are modelled, an overview of the types of control concept that are currently applied or under consideration, as well as a case study of tilting train controller design.
