Title
Development of numerical techniques for determining ground-induced actions on buried steel pipelines

Objectives
This work package (WP2) addresses the issue of soil-pipeline effects in a rigorous manner. The main objectives of this workpackage (WP2) are the following:

  • Develop appropriate soil material models, to be incorporated in finite element simulations.
  • Establish numerical techniques that model accurately soil-pipeline interaction in the case of typical ground-induced permanent deformation event, to determine actions on the pipeline.
  • Upon completion of the above objectives, numerical finite element tools will be ready for being employed in the following work packages, for the numerical simulation of experiments and the extensive numerical parametric study.
