The ruling bodies of the Department are the General Assembly (GA) and the General Assembly of Postgraduate Affairs (GAPA).

The members of the GA are all the faculty members and representatives of undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and administrative & technical staff. The GA makes decisisons on administrative, academic, and research matters that concern the Department.

The members of the GAPA are all the faculty members and representatives of postgraduate students. The GAPA makes decisisons on Postgraduate Studies in the Department.

Both assemblies meet regularly on a monthly basis and on special occassions when necessary. They are supported by a number of Committees that work out various academic, research, and administrative matters of the Department.

The Chairman and Vice Chairman of both assemblies are the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Department, respectively, who are elected every two years. The main responsibilities of the Chairman and Vice Chairman is to see that the decisions of the assemblies are executed and to supervise the services of the Department. Currently, the Chairman of the Department is Associate Professor Constantine (Costas) Papadimitriou, and the Vice Chairmen is Associate Professor Anastasios (Tassos) Stamatelos.

Finally, the Secratariat of the Department sees to the administrative matters of the Department and provides secratarial support in academic, reseach, and student affairs. Currently, the Head Secretary of the Department is Mrs. Meni Kouroutzidou.
